On May 19, LASA 2017-2018 celebrated its final day together with a trip to LACMA. Abigail Duckor, an Objects Conservator with LACMA, welcomed us and introduced us to her world of art at the intersection of chemistry. We toured the Conservation Lab and asked questions about materials, procedures, and pieces of art we saw tucked into boxes and behind cabinet doors. And we learned about evolving theories of conservation.
After spending some time looking at LACMA’s collections, we met five LASA alumni to hear about their current plans and how LASA helped them inside and outside the classroom.
LASA also announced the two winners of its Summer Research Contest, Rachel and Victor. Congratulations on their winning proposals. LASA will post their finished work later this summer. . .so stay tuned.
Thanks to all those who support LASA – from our financial supporters to our teachers, parents, and students. LASA admitted its 2018-2019 class and looks forward to welcoming new students.
